Late last week I was in London at The Dorchester hotel on Park Lane, London for the annual Grocer Gold Awards. The Grocer is the journal for the grocery industry and is published weekly. The evening starts with pre dinner drinks reception and impressive meal service by the waiting staff of the fine hotel. The after dinner speech was delivered by Vince Cable (MP for Twickenham & Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer) and his outlook and understanding of the economy was enlightening. He dashed off to appear on Newsnight whilst the awards were given out to a lively room of grocer executives and their guests.
My brief is to photograph the drinks reception beforehand, the VIPs on the Editor’s table and during the announcements the reaction from the winner’s table. I then photograph the award winner on their return from the podium ideally with the stage in the background. I finish with party photos afterwards. It is a hectic evening and I edit and deliver the photos to the editor that night so it is a late finish. There are more photos from the layout below.
